Denison Wraps its Weekend in Michigan with a Win Over Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Denison women's tennis team earned its third win of the weekend to complete its weekend in Michigan. In their final head-to-head on Sunday, the Big Red defeated the Kalamazoo College Hornets 6-1. With the day's win, Denison moves to 7-2 for the season, while the Hornets drop to 4-4.

Doubles:

Denison secured its first win of the day in doubles play, winning two of the three doubles to go up 1-0 ahead of singles play. Dasha Chistyakova and Caitlin Van Winkle picked up the first doubles victory after defeating the Hornets' Bougiokou and Kimbouris 6-3 on court two. Just a minute later, Maddie Larsen and Nowicki defeated their opponents, Liles and Krause, 6-3 on court three.

Singles:

Up 1-0 heading into singles play, the Big Red were firing on all cylinders, looking to close out their weekend in Michigan strong. Chistyakova grabbed Denison's first singles victory on court three, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. A few minutes later, fellow junior Nowicki won her match on court four, by a score of 6-0, 6-1, giving Denison a 3-0 cushion with four more matches to go. Anna Leach would put the Big Red up by four after she defeated Kalamazoo's Liles 6-4, 6-4 on court six. Soon after, on court five, Larsen held off her opponent Stevison, defeating her 6-0, 7-5. Denison's final win of the day was earned by Ramos, who outlasted her opponent in a three-set battle, winning by the score of 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.
