More infoLong after finishing up his career with Manchester United, Roy Keane has remained an influential voice in the football world and one of the best-known faces here in Cork. The former midfielder was called up for punditry duty over the weekend as the Red Devils played Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield, with Keano having a balance of praise and criticism for his old club. The team scored its first goals at Anfield since 2018, but amid a tough season, Keane wants to see more from United, commenting: "Manchester United turned up. They showed a bit of passion. They did it at Manchester City recently as well."The argument to all of this, though, is that you can't just pick and choose when you want to turn up for a game at Manchester United. I don't think anyone would have predicted them scoring two goals today or nearly nicking it at the end. But the key is that they have to back it up."Keane's matter-of-fact style of punditry has won over fans across the Premier League, earning him a reputation as one of the game's most outspoken pundits.Away from football, however, Keane has shown his softer side in retirement, often sharing photos and humorous snapshots of his family life. He has been married to his wife Theresa Doyle since 1997, with the pair meeting five years prior during the former midfielder's days at Forest.Together, Keane and his wife have five children - Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna - as well as two grandchildren.Leah - affectionally referred to by the United legend as 'Number 4' - has another footballing connection, having recently got engaged to Southampton and England defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, reports Wales Online. While they previously kept their relationship out of the spotlight, the couple - who are believed to have been dating for five years - revealed in November that the footballer had popped the question in the summer. In a photo shared on Instagram, the 22-year-old is seen getting down on one knee on a yacht against the backdrop of Positano on Italy's Amalfi Coast. In the caption, Leah wrote simply: "'I can't wait to marry you."(Image: tayhbellis/Instagram)Harwood-Bellis had quite the year in 2024, with his engagement coming between him winning promotion to the Premier League with the Saints and being called up for England by interim boss Lee Carsley. His international career got off to a brilliant start, but he risked upsetting his new father-in-law as he scored on his first start in a 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.Keane, who was on punditry duty for ITV for the match, joked after the full-time whistle that the defender's goal was "bittersweet" for him and that the engagement was "not done and dusted yet". However, he then gave the Southampton man his seal of approval."Over the last few months he’s definitely been a goal threat playing for Southampton, it’s nice for him," said the United legend. "It’s great for him to make his debut, as I said he’s a bit of a goal threat. He’s a nice kid, his family has done a great job."However, 2025 has not started well for Harwood-Bellis, as Saints were thrashed 5-0 by Brentford in a disastrous first game of the New Year. A second-half collapse saw Ivan Juric's side concede four goals, with fans accusing the defender of having his worst game in a Southampton shirt on another miserable day at St Mary's.After the defeat, which left his side rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, Harwood-Bellis admitted that losing so heavily was "upsetting."“Didn’t see it coming,” he said following the game. “It’s upsetting that we went out and that happened. It’s not nice. Just didn't feel like we were aggressive enough. Didn't feel like we had that intensity that we've had in the last three games. It shows that when we do turn up with intensity and we are aggressive that we’re always in the game, today was nowhere near it.“I think with some boys, confidence might be low in there, but I actually don’t think it’s about confidence at the minute," he added. "I think it's about digging in and grinding a result out or being aggressive, that's not confidence. That's just having your own pride, which the boys have. We do have it, which is why it's such a hard one to take.”
