That was a top effort from everyone on the field and also from the great crowd. The boys know what brand of cricket we want to play. Losing three wickets in one over was too much but the way they responded, the positive intent they showed, was great. We’ve talking about expressing ourselves and batting the same way we do in the nets. I’m really happy and I think we’re moving in the right direction. I always felt we could control the game in overs 7-10 (of the England innings) and we did that. Unfortunately Shivam Dube couldn’t come out and Harshit Rana came in as a third seamer and delivered for us. I think that was incredible. Share

But I don’t agree that England should only be cross with themselves. Harshit Rana is as much of a like-for-like replacement for Shivam Dube as I am for David Beckham. He’s having to work exceptionally hard to smile with anything resembling sincerity as he shakes hands with the Indian players. I doubt he’ll say it but it’s clear that England feel hard done by.
