Latest attempt by Brennan to overturn suspension fails

The GAA's Central Appeals Committee have upheld the 12-week suspension handed down to Dublin football manager Ger Brennan, RTÉ Sport understands.

The ban arose from a red card issued to Brennan for getting involved in a fracas with Galway strength and conditioning coach Cian Breathnach McGinn during Dublin's Division 1 league defeat at Pearse Stadium on 22 March, a result which saw the Dubs relegated from the top tier.

After the suspension was initially upheld by the GAA's Central Hearings Committee, Dublin GAA were informed, following a meeting of the CAC on Monday evening, that Brennan's latest attempt at challenging his ban has not been successful.

It is understood that Dublin will now apply to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) in one last effort to have the suspension overturned or reduced.

As things stand, Brennan will not be on the sideline for his side's Leinster Championship opener against Wicklow on Sunday.

He is also prohibited from any matchday activity and should any appeal to the DRA fail, the prospect of missing a huge chunk of Dublin's championship campaign is likely.
