Omar Rekik Eyes Return to the Tunisia national football team

A new chapter is beginning for Tunisia national football team, and Omar Rekik could be one of its leading figures.

The defender of NK Maribor is being targeted by the Tunisian national team, which is currently undergoing a major rebuilding phase.

The move gained momentum after a direct exchange with Zied Jaziri, sporting director of the Tunisian national team.

This exchange took place at the end of the match against NK Olimpija Ljubljana and was intended to present the player with the vision of new coach Sabri Lamouchi.

Newly appointed head coach of the Eagles of Carthage, Sabri Lamouchi is preparing his first roster in the context of a post-CAN 2025 revival.

Emerging profiles are being studied to build a competitive team for upcoming friendly matches and qualifiers.

According to the Tunisian federation, Omar Rekik has sent a strong signal.

“Proud of his Tunisian sporting origins, he has expressed his complete willingness to represent the nation and defend its colors without reservation,” the federation said.

Having played for Wigan Athletic FC and Olympique de Marseille, the defender already has international experience with three caps, including participation in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
