BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis welcomed student-athletes from across the Patriot League from Friday to Sunday for the ITA Patriot League Masters Tournament hosted at the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts on Lehigh's Goodman Campus. Graduate student Sean Jaeger and first-year Kosei Ogata competed against the Patriot League's best in doubles and singles play.

The ITA Patriot League Masters Tournament is comprised of two student-athletes, male and female, from each member institution. The winners of the singles and doubles brackets get a chance to compete at a national tournament in San Diego from November 6-9.

Jaeger and junior Alex Van Lumich were originally slated to be Lehigh's entrants, but an injury to Van Lumich forced Ogata into action. Both Jaeger and Ogata received byes in the round of 32 in singles play on Friday. In the round of 16, Ogata defeated Patrick Ling of Holy Cross 6-3, 7-6 while Jaeger also advanced to the quarterfinals with a three-set win over Colgate's Aidan Lee.

In doubles play, Jaeger and Ogata faced off against Army's Jack Hanna and Daniel Choi, defeating them 8-5 to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

In the singles quarterfinals on Saturday, Ogata dropped a heartbreaker to Boston University's Jakob Esterowitz 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Jaeger also fell in his quarterfinal bout to Navy's Herrick Legaspi 6-2, 6-3, eliminating the Mountain Hawks from singles contention.

Jaeger and Ogata faced the first-seeded Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald from Bucknell in the doubles semifinals. The Mountain Hawks were bested 8-4, putting Lehigh's fall campaign to an end.

The Mountain Hawks now set their sights on the spring season.
