India are down and out in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. With Jasprit Bumrah injured, the remaining pacers looked clueless in Australia’s chase of 162 runs on Day 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Earlier, Australia conceded just 16 runs to dismiss the remaining four Indian batters.

Prasidh Krishna was all over the place and bowled a couple of wide deliveries, with one going for four byes. Former India player Sunil Gavaskar was furious with the pacer and slammed him for his wayward bowling.

“Wild bowling. You just got 162 runs to defend and look at your bowling. The captain has kept two slips for you and you are bowling wide on the leg stump. This is where India is missing Jasprit Bumrah. He doesn’t allow the rivals to score easily,” he said.

According to Team India, Bumrah is down with back spasm but the exact nature of his injury was not revealed. He picked up 32 wickets in the five-Test series, with three five-fers. His workload was not ma aged by captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir, leading to an unfortunate injury. He was given long spells as other bowlers were under the pump.
