Should the Gunners lose to Ipswich Town on Sunday, Arne Slot’s men will be crowned champions if they then beat Leicester City in the later kick-off.Admittedly, an Arsenal defeat at Portman Road against the Premier League strugglers is unlikely. But Liverpool are on course to win the title before the end of the month regardless.Should the title-race still be open heading into gameweek 34, the Reds could win the title without playing ahead of their clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 27 April.Mikel Arteta’s men host Crystal Palace on Wednesday 23 April, and need to be no more than 12 points behind Liverpool come the final whistle to, mathematically at least, remain in contention. The gap currently stands at 13 points with six games left to play. However, Slot’s side can win the title no matter what Arsenal do when they host next Spurs weekend. As things stand, victories against both Leicester and Tottenham would clinch the title.Article continues belowRuud van Nistelrooy’s side have to beat Liverpool to delay an inevitable relegation to the Championship for another week, ensuring the Foxes have something to fight for against the champions elect. However, the Reds have been granted a potential boost ahead of their meeting with Spurs next weekend - and not just because Tottenham supporters would much rather see Liverpool win the league than their bitter-rivals, Arsenal.Spurs currently sit 15th in the Premier League table after a miserable season and trail the top five by 18 points. Consequently, they look set to miss out on European football next season, while Champions League qualification should mathematically become impossible through league position this weekend. However, they can qualify for UEFA’s elite club competition by winning the Europa League. And after former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke - who joined Spurs in a £65m switch from AFC Bournemouth last summer - scored the winner against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night set up a semi-final meeting with Bodo/Glimt, Ange Postecoglou’s side now have an almighty distraction hanging over their trip to Anfield. They will host the Norwegian outfit in their Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday 1 May, just four days after travelling to Liverpool. With the Europa League being all they have left to play for this season, it would be no surprise if Postecoglou rotated his side against the Reds as a result in order to prioritise their European semi-final.Tottenham ultimately denied the Reds the title the last time they went the distance in the title-race back in 2021/22 as Liverpool fell just one point short of Manchester City. Winning six of their final seven matches, a 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Anfield ultimately proved costly with it being the only time they slipped up during the run-in.Of course, three years on and it is nowhere near as tight at the top with it now a matter of when, not if, the Reds win the league. The dream scenario for supporters will be Liverpool winning it themselves in style against Tottenham next weekend, regardless of Arsenal.Article continues belowSpurs have already lost two of their three meetings with Liverpool this season, with Slot’s men thrashing them 6-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in December before dismantling them 4-0 in the League Cup semi-final second leg at Anfield in February. And while the Reds would be confident of again getting the job done against Spurs in front of their home fans, their hopes have been given a helping hand courtesy of Tottenham looking to reach the Europa League final and Postecoglou potentially selecting a much-changed side as a result.
