Chapter 10 of the growing tennis rivalry between world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and No.4 Coco Gauff takes centre stage on Saturday (3 May) in Madrid.

The two are set to meet in the women's singles final of the 2025 Madrid Open, the first of two WTA 1000 events ahead of Roland-Garros later this month.

Sabalenka is looking for a third Madrid title (2023, 2021) as she reaches the championship tilt for a fourth time in five years. She was runner-up last year.

But Gauff will be riding high on confidence after a decisive victory over reigning Madrid champ Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals, which Gauff claimed on Thursday (1 May) 6-1, 6-1.

Gauff's run to the final marks her best result at a clay event since losing to Swiatek in the Roland-Garros final back in 2022. Before she beat the Pole Thursday, she also had wins this fortnight over Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic and 2025 Indian Wells champion Mirra Andreeva.

Their 10th meeting overall is a first since the WTA Finals semi-final match last October (pictured above), which Gauff won on her way to the title.

Here are the key things you need to know ahead of the Mutua Madrid Open championship clash.
