Commentator revealed a row of York City supporters were praying

Well, that was exhausting! What a way to finish a match!

I think that might even cap the day when York City beat Manchester United in the League Cup second round in 1995. I remember, back in '95, listening to the second leg of the League Cup match at Bootham Crescent back and the commentator revealing that at one point there was a row of York supporters on their knees praying.

Manchester United went on to win 3-1 on the night but lose 4-3 on aggregate.

The last minutes of extra time in today’s match when first Rochdale scored then York equalised was the nutty magic of football at its best.

How many York supporters were on their knees this time I wonder? Seems unfair that Rochdale, who have also scored more than 100 points in the National League this season, don’t go up automatically with York.

Good luck to them in the play-offs.

First of all many many congratulations to my beloved YCFC, but how ironic was it that City scored round about the same time Rochdale scored last week bringing it to Saturday’s title match.

Save the humble dandelions

‘A FLOWER is only a weed if you don’t want it’ has always been my motto.

Our re-wilded front garden border gives us great pleasure each year as these cheery, yellow flowers follow the daffodils and tulips.

Insects love them and a Goldfinch was seen last year feeding on a dandelion clock.

This tiny bird clung to the bottom of the stalk and gradually bounced its way up until it reached the top.

The stalk had bent to the ground and the Goldfinch then feasted on the clock seeds.

I could hardly believe my eyes at what I had been privileged to witness.

Grass verges are once again starting to glow yellow and I do hope the Council will resume NO MOW MAY again this year.

Drug and tobacco policy

For over ten years now I have been writing to newspapers questioning why we have not had clinical trials here in the UK into iboga-based potential cures for drug and tobacco addiction.

Alas, they do not work on alcoholics I understand. I have been ridiculed on social media platforms for doing so.

But these knocks are as nothing compared to ordinary people losing their jobs, homes and losing their lives in the mean time.

Now half-way through his second term, President Trump has finally announced he is going to have a study conducted in the USA.

A Prime Minister lacking any morals with a Cabinet happy to enjoy the privilege of office but totally lacking the guts to instigate change knowing it could be the end for them.

...A suggestion to anyone wondering how to take advantage of summer’s glorious afternoons - seek out your nearest cricket club, purchase a deckchair, and spend many happy hours watching a wonderful sport. The camaraderie between supporters is remarkable.
