The UK is considering barring unlicensed gambling operators from sponsoring UK sports teams including Premier League football clubs as part of a broader effort to rein in black-market gambling and protect consumers.The government is planning to take comments on a proposal that would prohibit gambling companies that don’t have UK licenses from using UK sports teams such as Premier League clubs as platforms to lure in British customers. In announcing the consultation, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport noted Monday that such unregulated firms have been linked to organized crime.
