NC State sent shockwaves throughout the college football recruiting world Monday when it landed Fairhope (Ala.) St. Michael quarterback and Wolfpack legacy Gunner Rivers.The 6-foot-3 1/2, 205-pound signal-caller, who's the son of State legend Philip Rivers, is the fourth commitment in the Pack's 2027 recruiting class -- and one of the biggest in program history."It's a program-altering commitment because any time anyone talks about NC State football over the next four or five years, people are going to say: "Hey, they've got Gunner Rivers, Philip Rivers' kid," Ivins said. "For NC State, it's a statement, and it's going to shoot them to the top of the conversation in college football."
