The ICC, the governing body of events like the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, takes offenses against the code of conduct seriously. This is why they are reprimanding Sidra Ameen.

The batter is being disciplined for breaching the code of conduct. According to ICC, “Sidra was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

What is Sidra Ameen’s Punishment?

In sports like the NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB, players are disciplined in several ways. Primarily, they receive a suspension or a fine. In the case of the ICC, discipline can also include demerit points.

ICC announced that “One demerit point has been added to Sidra Amin’s disciplinary record in accordance with the regulations. This marks her second offence within a 24-month period, taking her total tally of demerit points to two.”

On October 5, 2025, Ameen received a demerit point for a similar event.

Ameen’s punishment is labelled a “level one breach.” These punishments are typically one or two demerit points. Additionally, they face either an official reprimand or a fine equal to 50 percent of their salary for the match.

Sidra Ameen Recently Reached an Incredible Milestone

In September 2025, Ameen became the third women’s cricketer to ever reach the 2000-run milestone in One Day International (ODI) cricket. She joins Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof in reaching the milestone.

DunyaNews reports that, “She reached the milestone during the first ODI against South Africa women at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The 33-year-old batter accomplished the feat in her 73rd innings of her 75th ODI match, making her the third Pakistani woman to cross the 2,000-run mark in the format.”
