He progressed through the German youth teams from U15 to U19, and during Union Berlin's rise, including their participation in the Champions League, his name was also mentioned for the senior national team. The younger brother of World Cup winner Sami Khedira hopes that the change of association will give him a chance to participate in the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The Tunisian association posted the confirmation of the association change by FIFA on its Instagram channel and shared this photo.

The association wrote: "The Tunisian Football Federation is honored to inform the sports audience and media representatives that the Football Court of the International Football Federation (FIFA) has officially approved the change of sporting affiliation for player Rani Khedira today."

As reported by 'transfermarkt.de', Khedira had declined Tunisia in 2018 because he only spoke German and communication on the field was very important to him. Therefore, the speeches will now be held in English. With assistant coach Michael Hefele, the Union professional can also communicate in German.
