Zambia have put their 3-0 win over Botswana behind them and turned their attention to their second Group B fixture against Zimbabwe at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship 2025 in Polokwane, South Africa.Copper Queens assistant coach Charles Haalubono conceded the matchday two fixture will be a stern test against a familiar rival. He told FAZ Media the technical bench has put together a tactical plan to overcome Zimbabwe at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.Zambia to consolidate ‘our tactical plan’“We are facing a very tough opponent, Zimbabwe. We know them well as they know us as well so we are having a plan on them. Having played them several times. We know how they move and how they stand; so, we are going to consolidate our tactical plan,” said Haalubono. He described Zimbabwe as a side that is quick in transition but said that Zambia have worked on how to deal with their pace.Haalubono said the Copper Queens will not rely on their previous victory over Zimbabwe in the three-nation tournament in Malawi as Sunday’s match will be approached on its own terms. He admitted the 3-1 win in Malawi offers motivation but warned it will count for nothing when they step onto the pitch.“Yes, it’s part of our motivation but we should also make our players understand that that’s a past game and we cannot rely on that; this is a totally different game where we are supposed to be more focused and more determined so that we can win the match,” added Haalubono. The Green Buffaloes Women FC trainer expects a strong response from Zimbabwe who may be seeking revenge.“That’s what we are trying to remind the players of because you know once you beat a team; it’s not a moment to relax, they go back to plan, do extra work so that they can turn the tables. So, we are psyching the players on that,” he added.Regina Chanda likely to face ZimbabweMeanwhile, Haalubono revealed Regina Chanda is likely to return after being cleared by medical staff following a knock sustained against Botswana. He however said Rhodah Chileshe remains sidelined, although she is making progress in her recovery.“We are still monitoring Regina (Chanda). We have received a positive report from the doctors; they are saying she’s good to play but we have to see it in training. Also, on Rhodah Chileshe; she’s still on recovery but she can’t manage to play at the moment. We are just working on her recovery,” concluded Haalubono.Zambia returned to Curro High School Football Pitch on Saturday for their final training session ahead of Sunday’s second Group match against Zimbabwe.
