Crystal Palace braced for imminent Eberechi Eze bid from Premier League rivals

Tottenham are set to make a bid for Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, talkSPORT understands.

Spurs view the England attacker as a No.10 and their pursuit is separate to the club’s interest in Manchester City winger Savinho as a result.

Spurs are hoping to move quickly and have been told by Eze’s camp terms will not be a problem.

Eze is open to the move, and wants to both play Champions League football and ideally stay in London.

Arsenal also hold an interest in Eze, and a late window move can’t be discounted. However, the desire to give Ethan Nwaneri minutes at No.10 this season has led to some hesitation within the club as to whether to add another central attacker.

Arsenal are also focused on outgoings. They could look to bring in another left-winger instead if Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli depart. Both players could well remain, but Trossard is the more likely of the pair to leave should any exit materialise.

Spurs want to move quickly in the hope of agreeing a deal with Crystal Palace before Arsenal enter the race.

talkSPORT understands Spurs prefer not to trigger Eze’s £68million release clause and instead value the 27-year-old closer to the £55m they paid for Mohammed Kudus.

It remains to be seen whether Palace engage at a number below the clause valuation even after it expires.

Spurs are optimistic a deal can be struck this summer and a first bid is now anticipated, with Palace made directly aware Tottenham plan to try.

Where does Eze's future lie?

It is very clear it is now a two-way battle between Tottenham and Arsenal for Eze's signature.

The England international could also remain at Selhurst Park for at least one more year if an acceptable bid for him does not arrive.

The playmaker has already shown that he won't kick up a fuss about leaving, turning up to training and playing in the Community Shield on Sunday.

There, he claimed his second trophy with the Eagles in the space of a few months after scoring the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

That goal ensured that Eze will go down as a Palace legend no matter what.

But if either Spurs or Arsenal get their hands on him, it would be transformative.

Ex-Arsenal star Ray Parlour wants to see Mikel Arteta's men go all out and bring him to the Emirates.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, he said: “I think there might be one more signing.

“I don't know how much money they've got left or whether the rules as well they've got to look at, but if there is enough money, Eze would be [a great signing].

"He’d be [playing] off the left there, maybe, but you've got to have options.

“You've got to have lots of players who can just come in and come out of the team. And we all know that you've got to have depth.

“A lot of depth if you're playing Champions League football, the FA Cup, so many games.

“That's why [Christian] Norgaard would be good for Arsenal, because he can come in certain games, he's got the experience. And he knows he's going to be second fiddle, but he can still play a big part for Arsenal in certain areas.

“So I think Eze would be the icing on the cake.”

But with Arsenal unsure how to approach, their bitter rivals could swoop.

If Eze were to end up at Spurs, it would be a huge coup for Tottenham and Thomas Frank.

Tottenham have lost James Maddison for the majority of the season to an ACL injury, while they saw a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White collapse.

Spurs triggered the player's release clause only to see Nottingham Forest block the move and then get Gibbs-White to sign a new deal.
