Cristina Bucsa vs Marina Stakusic prediction

Cristina Bucsa ended a run of five matches without a win after defeating Donna Vekic in straight sets. There were five consecutive breaks of serve in the first set, but Bucsa managed to serve it out to edge in front. She raced into a 3-0 lead in the second, and despite Vekic gaining a foothold in the set, the Spaniard would go on to win 6-3 6-2. That was her first victory since the Brisbane International at the start of last month.

She now faces Marina Stakusic for a place in the last eight. The Canadian broke on five separate occasions as she beat Dayana Yastremska 6-4 6-3 after one hour and 27 minutes. Stakusic had not featured for over a month following her retirement in the first-round of the Australian Open.

This has the makings of a close match, with Bucsa edging ahead as a slight favourite. Nevertheless, Stakusic performed well in her previous match and will fancy her chances.
