The world number one players in table tennis men's and women's singles, Lin Shidong and Sun Yingsha, are to lead the People's Republic of China squad at the 2025 ITTF World Championships Finals in Doha, Qatar, next month from 17-25 May.Lin, who suffered an upset loss in the final of the recent ITTF Men's Singles World Cup to Brazilian Hugo Calderano, heads a men's team which includes world number two Wang Chuqin, world number five Liang Jungkun, as well as Lin Gaoyuan and Xue Fei.Meanwhile, Sun is the top draw on the women's team which includes each of the world's top four: Sun, Wang Manyu, Chen Xingtong, and Wang Yidi. Shi Xunyao completes the singles team.This will be the first ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals since both men's doubles and women's doubles were re-added to the Olympic programme. Those two events will return at Los Angeles 2028, having last appeared at Beijing 2008.In Doha, China will be represented in men's doubles by the two Lins, Shidong and Gaoyuan, as well as by Huang Youzheng partnering Liang. In women's doubles, Chen pairs up with Qian Tianyi, while Wang Manyu is in a team with Kuai Man.Olympic champions Wang Chuqin / Sun are joined by Asian champions Lin Shidong / Kuai in the mixed doubles event.The paddlers are set to train in Chengdu before heading to the World Championships.
