Michael Nicholson ordered by Celtic fan group to answer three critical concerns as 'accountability' demanded

A prominent Celtic fan group have called on Michael Nicholson to end the boardroom silence by addressing three burning issues in the wake of a calamitous summer window.

Under-fire chief executive Nicholson has come in for some stinging criticism from irate supporters after the Hoops crashed out of the Champions League and failed to strengthen the squad - despite repeated pleas from boss Brendan Rodgers.

Gaffer Rodgers insisted on Friday that forward Adam Idah wouldn't be sold unless a replacement was brought in - only for the Irishman to be shipped out to Swansea City in a £7million deadline day exit.

The window closed without any new strikers added and now the cash-rich Scottish champions find themselves scrambling around the free agent market, desperately searching for a new frontman before Tuesday's 11pm Europa League squad registration deadline.

Having watched powerbrokers drag their heels over incomings and outgoings throughout another chaotic summer, leading supporter organisations are demanding answers from the hierarchy.

The Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs - which was founded in 1986 and represents fans worldwide - issued a statement on Tuesday night questioning the club's strategy and ambition while demanding accountability from the silent boardroom.

A statement read: "The Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs wishes to express growing concern over the club’s current trajectory and apparent lack of ambition – particularly the failure to strengthen the squad ahead of this season’s crucial UEFA Champions League qualifiers, despite robust financial results.

"This concern has been echoed not only by supporters but also by manager Brendan Rodgers and club captain Callum McGregor.

"The recurring failure to adequately prepare for key European fixtures has become a troubling pattern, raising serious questions about the club’s strategy, planning, and competitive priorities.

"We call on CEO Michael Nicholson to provide a clear and direct explanation to supporters and shareholders – outlining the club’s long-term vision, its commitment to genuine footballing ambition, and the rationale behind the lack of visible progress in this summer’s transfer window.

"At a time when decisive leadership is needed, continued silence only deepens frustration.

"Celtic’s support demands transparency, accountability, and a plan that reflects both the aspirations of our fanbase and the full potential of Celtic Football Club.

"These concerns have been further compounded by the disarray witnessed on the final evening of the transfer window."
