Karlsson knocked off Spain’s Álvaro Robles, the world’s 41st-ranked table tennis player, in a 4–0 upset victory.Lin also had a decisive victory in the mixed doubles, where he and Kuai Man took an easy 3–0 win over Austria’s Robert Gardos and Sofia Polcanova.But it wasn’t all straightforward in the men’s singles action, as France’s Simon Gauzy knocked out 16th seed Lin Gaoyuan of China in a 4–2 upset.England’s Tom Jarvis continued his winning ways, less than 24 hours after he dismissed former European table tennis champion Dang Qiu in a huge shock.On Tuesday, Jarvis advanced to the round of 16 after a 4–0 win over Romania’s Iulian Chirița.He’ll run into more stiff competition there, as he’s set to face China’s Liang Jingkun, who is currently ranked fifth globally.Earlier in the day, Paris 2024 bronze medallist Alexis Lebrun of France withdrew from the men’s singles competition to focus on doubles, where he plays with brother Félix.
