Manchester United will face Everton in the Premier League on Monday night, but Michael Carrick will be without a number of players due to injury

Manchester United will have to wait until Monday evening before they are back in Premier League action. After having a break last weekend while the FA Cup took centre stage, United will now be looking ahead to their next fixture, which sees them travel to Merseyside to face Everton.

Michael Carrick has won four of his five matches since being named as United’s interim head coach until the end of the season.

However, Carrick’s last match saw United have to settle for a point in their draw away to West Ham, but they still lie in fourth place in the Premier League and in control of their own destiny in the race for Champions League qualification.

United will travel to face an Everton team who have David Moyes as their manager, which will see the Reds take on their former boss once again.

Carrick will have some United players unavailable for selection for the clash against Everton and recently offered an update ahead of the trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at United’s current injury list and potential return dates.

Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that he suffered back in January. The Denmark international is expected to be on the sidelines for a couple of months, with United still facing a wait before having Dorgu back in their squad.

"Pat, unfortunately, he's gonna be out for a period of time,” Carrick said on January 30. “We're still working through how long that's going to be, so we'll have to see. He’s disappointed, he's had such a big couple of weeks.

"We weren't sure whether it was a little bit of cramp or something a little bit more serious and at the moment it looks a little bit more on the serious note so it'll be a few weeks for that, how many weeks we'll have to wait and see.

"That's disappointing for all of us, really. Pat was in such a good place, but unfortunately, it’s football, and it's something we've got to work through and get him back as soon as we can."

Potential return date: March/April

Mason Mount

Mason Mount has missed United’s last three matches with an injury he picked up in training earlier this month.

Carrick has already stated that he does not expect Mount to return in time to feature against Everton in United’s next match.

"Mason [Mount] is getting closer, we have to be patient with him." Carrick said on Friday. "We don’t want to rush anything, he is getting closer.

Potential return date: March 1 - Crystal Palace (H) - Premier League

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt is continuing to recover from a back injury that has kept him on the sidelines since November.

De Ligt is believed to be moving closer to a return to the matchday squad, but Carrick has stated that the defender is still not ready to feature for United.

“De Ligt is working towards it, he is a little bit behind Mason [Mount],” Carrick said this week.

Potential return date: March 4 - Newcastle (A) - Premier League
