Last Dance? Babar’s T20 future questioned after India setback

COLOMBO - Pakistan Test cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has openly questioned Babar Azam’s future in T20 cricket following his disappointing outing against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Taking to X, Shehzad suggested that Babar’s latest failure in a high-pressure match could prove decisive for his place in the shortest format. “Babar gone once again. Maybe it was his last dance to prove his worth in this format,” he wrote. Babar has struggled for consistency in the tournament, scoring 15 against the Netherlands and 46 against the USA before failing to convert his start against India. In six T20Is versus India, he has accumulated 110 runs at an average of 22.
