MUTV pundit says Bruno Fernandes showed Paul Scholes quality with latest Man Utd performance

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been praised after another impressive performance.

Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa was led by club captain Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes provided assists for United’s opening two goals. The first was a cross for Casemiro to head in, and the second was an expertly-placed through ball for Matheus Cunha to hit first time.

Incredibly, Fernandes now has 16 assists in the Premier League this season. He is closing in on the league’s best ever individual record of 20, with eight games remaining.

Fernandes was praised on MUTV following his latest display.

Bruno Fernandes’ passing praised

Bruno Fernandes’ performance impressed supporters, and it was the talk of the club’s in-house television channel, MUTV.

Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune told the channel’s post-game show that Fernandes’ passing range reminded him of Paul Scholes.

Fortune explained: “We got a bit of joy from the brilliance of Bruno again.”

Referring to the assist for the second goal: “I love Scholesy, and I don’t want to compare him, but that was a bit Scholesy-level.

“The weight of pass, the vision to see it, and to have the patience. I have to give Bruno his dues because that was outstanding. Brilliant pass.”

Fernandes began his spell at United wearing the number 18 shirt once worn by Scholes, before later switching to take the 8 shirt after Juan Mata’s contract expired.

Incredibly, Fernandes has exceeded 100 goals and 100 assists in a Manchester United shirt since joining the club in 2020.

Fortune’s comments were echoed by Wes Brown, who said: “Fantastic from Bruno. The vision, the pace of the ball. The ball to Cunha… beautiful.”

Ben Thornley added: “He’s got absolutely everything. What he’s given to this Football Club with the quality he has done and the games he has played, he hardly ever misses, he is outstanding.”

United ‘could have had five’

Manchester United strengthened the grip on third place in the Premier League table after the win.

The 3-1 victory came courtesy of goals from Casemiro, Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.

Speaking about the performance, Wes Brown commented: “If we’re being honest it should have finished more than 3-1 today. It should have been at least five.”

United were further boosted by both Chelsea and Liverpool dropping points over the weekend. Qualification for the Champions League is looking likely.
