Pakistan wins historic bronze at ITF Masters World Tennis Championship

Pakistan’s tennis team made history by securing a bronze medal at the ITF Masters 45+ World Championship in Turkey, marking the nation’s first-ever podium finish at the prestigious event.

Competing for the first time, the Pakistani team, led by captain Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and featuring Aqeel Khan and Shehryar Salamat, delivered standout performances against top-ranked tennis nations.

Pakistan dominated the group stage, defeating Romania and hosts Turkey 3-0. The team then edged past the Czech Republic 2-1 in the quarter-finals before falling to France in a hard-fought semi-final.

Despite a singles win by Aqeel Khan, Pakistan lost 2-1 as France prevailed in the doubles match.

In the third-place decider, Pakistan overcame Germany 2-1 to claim bronze. The players will now compete in individual events in the tournament’s second week.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Pakistan’s tennis scene, showcasing the nation’s growing strength on the international stage.
