Alejandro Garnacho and Manuel Ugarte have now tipped two Manchester United players to follow in Ruben Amorim’s footsteps by becoming a football manager.

Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford last November after he left Portuguese outfit Sporting CP and became Manchester United manager in 2024.

The 40-year-old United manager was snapped up by the Red Devils after Erik ten Hag was sacked as head coach by the Premier League club last October.

Erik ten Hag oversaw a disastrous start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and Ruud van Nistelrooy temporarily took over as United interim manager.

Amorim has overseen both the highs and lows during his early reign at Old Trafford, with United still languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table.

However, the former Sporting CP boss was able to sign off the pre-March international break period with United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City last Sunday.

Manuel Ugarte, on the other hand, is one of the Manchester United players away on international duty after the Red Devils midfielder was named in the Uruguay squad.

Uruguay will face 2022 World Cup champions Argentina in their World Cup qualifying match on Friday ahead of another qualifying clash against Bolivia next Tuesday.

Speaking to TNT Sports, both Garnacho and Ugarte took part in a series of different questions about their Red Devils teammates in the United first-team squad.

When asked about which United player would most likely take their place in the dugout in the future, Garnacho picked none other than Bruno Fernandes.

However, Ugarte did not see eye to eye with Garnacho on Bruno Fernandes and he instead predicted United shot-stopper Tom Heaton to be a future manager.

What does Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes think about becoming a manager after his career is over?

When asked by one United fan if he could become a manager in his post-playing career, Bruno Fernandes admitted that he could see himself as a coach.

“Well, Lebby I think, in the past, I think more [it’s] in my future,” he told Manchester United’s official website in 2021.

“Now I’m seeing time passing and seeing kids coming from 2000, 2001, 2002, and my sister is from 2000, so it’s making for some confusion in my head.

“I’m trying to enjoy the football, you know. I think I want to be a coach. Honestly, I would like to be a coach.

“I don’t know which team I would like to manage. Of course, the biggest team if I can manage Manchester United, I will be happy.

“I can leave now just some words so if people see this, if I’m a manager in the future, the fans can make some pressure to bring me as a coach!

“But I think I would like to be a coach in the future. I’m not sure but for what I feel for football, for the feeling I have, I think I have to continue to be inside of football because my whole life is about this.

“So I think, in the future, it needs to be with football too.”

United will return to Premier League action post-March international break with a visit to City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on 1st April.
