Ghana secure qualification after strong showing at Six

Ghana’s national cricket team has secured qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup African Sub-Regional Qualifier B following an impressive run at the Six-Nation T20 tournament held in Accra.

The tournament, staged at the Achimota Senior Secondary School A and B fields, brought together six countries, Ghana, Tanzania, Malawi, Eswatini, Seychelles and Saint Helena, as part of preparations for the qualifiers.

Ghana made full use of home advantage, delivering a consistent campaign with four wins from five matches to finish as runners-up and book their place in the next stage of the qualification pathway.

The hosts opened their campaign with a commanding six-wicket win over Seychelles, chasing down 72 in just 10.1 overs.

They followed it up with a hard-fought two-wicket victory against Malawi, successfully chasing 99 in a tense contest.

Ghana maintained their momentum with a dominant nine-wicket win over Saint Helena, reaching 78/1 in just 6.4 overs after restricting their opponents to 77.

Their final victory came in emphatic fashion against Eswatini, where they posted 178/5 before bowling out their opponents for 95 to complete an 83-run win.

Despite narrowly missing out on the top spot, Ghana’s overall performance was enough to confirm their qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup African Sub-Regional Qualifier B.

The competition concluded with a closing ceremony that celebrated both performance and participation, with players and officials from all six nations gathering to mark the end of a successful tournament.

As hosts, Ghana earned praise for organising the competition, further highlighting the country’s growing presence in African cricket.

With qualification secured, Ghana will now shift focus to the Sub-Regional Qualifier B, where they will face tougher opposition as they continue their push towards a place at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
