The real reason why there's 'no total agreement' yet between Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is no longer a secret at this point.

The Reds defender has entered the final six months of his contract at Anfield. Liverpool have been trying to extend his deal, but there has been no agreement yet.

Real Madrid are free to sign Alexander-Arnold on a pre-contract now ahead of a permanent deal for no fee in the summer transfer window.

However, the Galacticos’ first offer to the Englishman has fallen short.

It is looking more and more likely with each passing day that Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool.

The Englishman – along with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk – will be available on a free transfer, and that has made him a very attractive option.

TBR Football exclusively revealed earlier in January that Alexander-Arnold is ready to confirm that he wants to join Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are the favourites to get him, but Sky Sports claim that their opening contract offer for the right-back has not met his demands.

The report reveals that Alexander-Arnold wants to be paid as much as his close pal Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid.

The offer on the table right now is nowhere near that figure, and that is why there is ‘no total agreement’ between the two parties.

The report adds that Liverpool’s offers to convince Alexander-Arnold were ‘received, analyzed and negotiated’ by the defender, but they were deemed as ‘too low’ as well.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid’s next offer will meet Alexander-Arnold’s demands.

Alexander-Arnold may not prove to be as valuable as his compatriot, but the fact that he can be signed for free gives him the opportunity to demand a big salary.

Bellingham earns £342,000-a-week at Real Madrid (Salary Sport), which is almost twice as much as what Alexander-Arnold gets at Liverpool.

We’re not surprised that Real Madrid’s opening offer wasn’t close to Bellingham’s wages, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Spanish champions will agree to pay him the big bucks to seal the deal in the coming weeks.
