Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly set to demand that the club prioritise pace and strength in the summer transfer window to compete in the Premier League.

Amorim's men will be without European football next season after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

While the lack of Champions League is a huge blow for the Reds, the focus solely on domestic football could offer them a chance to significantly improve their position in English football.

To do this, it is largely agreed that Amorim will need to oversee a major rebuild of this squad. Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha is the top target for the Reds and he is reportedly set to arrive first at Carrington.

Ipswich Town's Liam Delap is also at the top of the list for United and both signings can be made without the need to sell players. However, beyond that point, United will need to rely on selling the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony to help boost Amorim's budget.

According to ESPN, if United do manage to make those sales, Amorim has a clear vision for how the new recruits should look. It is believed that the Portuguese head coach has noticed United's inability to compete physically against Premier League teams this season.

The report claims that before the Europa League final, Amorim was concerned that United could be outmuscled by Spurs in the midfield particularly. With those concerns met, Amorim is keen for that not to be the case again next season.

Central midfield recruits will likely be needed in the summer with Christian Eriksen set to depart and Casemiro's future still unclear.

At least one attacking midfielder is also needed especially after Alejandro Garnacho's apparent unhappiness with his game time at Old Trafford.
