Zimbabwe to host India this July

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced that Zimbabwe will host India for a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at Harare Sports Club in July.

The matches are scheduled for 23, 25 and 26 July, all starting at 1300 hours local time.

The two nations most recently met during the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Chennai on 26 February.

India last toured Zimbabwe in July 2024, when the teams contested a five-match T20I series that drew significant local and global interest.

The forthcoming fixtures follow Zimbabwe’s outstanding performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, where they reached the Super Eight stage after topping a highly competitive group featuring Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman without suffering a single defeat.

ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni said the series against India presents a significant opportunity for both the team and local fans.

“Matches against India always generate enormous interest and this is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions on home soil,” he said.

“Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series gives us a strong platform to build momentum and continue growing as a competitive force in international cricket.”

Meanwhile, in addition to the July series, ZC has confirmed that Zimbabwe will tour India in January 2027 for a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series – marking their first bilateral tour of India since March 2002.

The fixtures are scheduled for 3 January at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, 6 January at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad and 9 January at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mr Makoni expressed his excitement about Zimbabwe’s return to India for bilateral cricket.

“It is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe to be touring India again for a bilateral ODI series after more than two decades,” he said.

“India is one of the premier destinations in world cricket and this tour represents both an honour and a valuable opportunity for our players.

“We are looking forward to competitive and high-quality cricket and we believe this engagement will further strengthen the relationship between the two cricketing nations while providing invaluable exposure for our team.”
