India vs Australia 3rd ODI Highlights: Rohit Sharma smashed his 33rd ODI century (121 not out), while Virat Kohli scored 74 not out as India eased past Australia by 9 wickets in third ODI in Sydney on Saturday. In the chase of 237 runs, India reached home in 38.3 overs. Meanwhile, Australia, having already won the first two matches, clinched the series 2-1. Earlier in the game, Harshit Rana repaid the massive trust shown by India head coach Gautam Gambhir by returning impressive figures of 4 for 39 as India bowled out Australia for 236. The hosts were well-placed at 183 for 3 at one stage, but a disciplined and collective bowling effort helped India stage a remarkable comeback. Rohit Sharma has bagged the Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Series awards. He could not have asked for a better comeback to international cricket.

"That's what you expect in Australia, it's not going to be easy. You got to understand the situation. Haven't played for a long time, had a good prep coming here. We couldn't win the series but we still take a lot of positives. There'll be a lot of learnings for the youngsters. When I came for the first time, how the seniors helped up. It's our job to pass on the message. Never easy to travel abroad and play cricket. The guys are pretty talented, you need to have some game-plan. I still go back to the basics of playing and that's something I need to pass on to these guys. I love playing in Australia. In Sydney, I have a good memory, great place and great crowd. I love doing what I do and I hope continuing to do that," said Rohit after receiving the awards.

Much was said about how Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would perform in the series—and they didn’t disappoint. Rohit began with a modest 14-ball 8, but found his rhythm with a fluent 73, followed by a sublime unbeaten 121. He finished as the tournament’s top-scorer, amassing 202 runs.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, endured a rough start with two consecutive ducks, but bounced back in style with a composed 74 not out in the final ODI. Together, the two stalwarts have emphatically shown that they still have plenty of cricket and hunger left in them.

"Good to be out of the pond. The game shows you something even at this stage. It's so challenging when things aren't going your way. Situations in the middle get the best out of me," said Virat Kohli, who had scored ducks in the first two matches.

"Easy to bat with Rohit, glad it was a match-finishing stand. From early on, we understood the game well. That's how you become successful. Even back in the day, we thought we could take games away from the opposition. It all started in 2013 vs Australia, in the ODIs at home. They also know that games are sealed if we batted 20 overs together. We've loved coming to this country, played some of our best. You guys have been brilliant (to the crowd)," Kohli added.
