India Looking to Rebound From T20 World Cup Loss

Thursday’s match could be something of a must-win for India after its loss to South Africa earlier in the week.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir said he selected his XI carefully to bring a well-rounded team to the pitch.

“We don’t look at averages and stats and all that stuff. We look at who can deliver more at that number. Axar has done very well. There will always be discussions, but that’s the direction we want to move in,” Gambhir said, via the Times of India.

India would be able to get back on track with two wins in their remaining Super 8 matches, but a loss would force them to require some help from other matches.

That makes Thursday’s match all the more important, and the team is considering some changes to prepare for the run. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said the team would be looking at making some changes for Thursday’s match.

“There can be changes, yes,” Kotak told reporters, via the Times of India. “And obviously, it goes without saying that we discuss, because there are two leftie openers, number three is left-handed.”

Zimbabwe ead coach Justin Sammons said his team learned from its 107-run loss to West Indies and will take a more aggressive approach against Zimbabwe.

“We know the way India is going to come out and it’s going to be very similar to the way West Indies approached their innings. They’re (India) not going to hold back,” Sammons said, viat he Times of India. “There will be good learnings from that and how we deal with that, under pressure in the moment, how do we stay calm and just think on our feet and also just try and change things up a little bit, disrupt the rhythm of the batters.”
