Vivell and Wilcox Keen for Man Utd to Sign Angelo Stiller

Senior Manchester United officials Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox are big fans of Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller as they consider which midfielders to sign this summer, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.

GMS previously revealed that United want to sign two top, experienced midfielders in the upcoming transfer window to transform the middle of the park ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

It has been considered an area of weakness at Old Trafford for a while now, despite the rejuvenation of Kobbie Mainoo under the leadership of Michael Carrick, and will be further weakened when Casemiro leaves the club at the end of the season.

United have had a number of midfielders on their transfer shortlist, but the names on it are now starting to be narrowed down by high-ranking club chiefs.

Stiller 'High' in Man United's Thinking

While a lot of the focus around Manchester United's midfield targets has been on Premier League-based players, the club is still looking at targets playing abroad too.

The Red Devils do have a strong interest in the likes of Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, Brighton and Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba, Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, but Vivell and Wilcox are also huge fans of Stiller ahead of the summer window.

GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano previously said that Wilcox has been following Stiller 'for years'.

Speaking to the United Stand, Jacobs said that United's original 8-12 midfield transfer shortlist has now been narrowed down to five main names.

“About two months ago, they had 8–12 names in discussion, but now the shortlist focuses on Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and possibly Angelo Stiller and Sandro Tonali.

“Their ideal summer plan would be to sign two from that group as a midfield pairing. Other options could still come up, but if they miss out on these priorities, they’ll have to pivot to alternatives.

“Angelo Stiller is high in Man United’s thinking and is appreciated by Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox.”

United Have Huge Decision to Make

United are clearly ready to go big in the summer transfer window, and it would be an even bigger boost if they could secure Champions League football.

Michael Carrick currently has them lying in fourth position in the Premier League, and knowing they were back competing in Europe's elite club competition next season would further increase their budget.

According to Jacobs, United would love a combination of two of their preferred five midfield targets, but it could be particularly costly to try and pair any of their Premier League targets together given they have all been rated at £100m previously.

Stiller could be a more cost-effective option for United, given his valuation at Bundesliga side Stuttgart is said to be up to €60m (£52m), according to GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano, which could allow the Red Devils to push even further to land a Premier League target alongside the Germany international.
