Alex de Minaur shares how he and Katie Boulter first met on Tour

Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter are one of the highest profile couples in tennis right now.

De Minaur and Boulter have been publicly dating since March 2020, with the pair announcing their engagement in December 2024.

They often embrace their public relationship, with De Minaur sending a message to Boulter after she won her fourth WTA title earlier this month.

As they move closer towards their wedding, De Minaur has now revealed how he met Boulter for the first time on tour.

De Minaur is Australia’s number one tennis player on the ATP Tour right now, while Britain’s Boulter is building her way back up the rankings after falling outside the top 100 last year.

Both players have been competing in Mexico this week, with De Minaur suffering a shock first round defeat in Acapulco.

Prior to taking to court at the Mexican Open, De Minaur answered some questions from tennis fans on his TikTok.

One of those questions asked De Minaur how he met his fiancée Boulter for the first time, to which he revealed that it was actually in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Open six years ago.

“I officially met Katie on tour,” said De Minaur. “And yeah, first date was a little coffee date in Melbourne just before the Australian Open so there you go.”

When are Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter getting married?

De Minaur and Boulter have been engaged for over a year now, and have recently been dropping hints about their upcoming wedding.

Perhaps the biggest of those came last year when Boulter posted a carousel of pictures to Instagram with the caption ‘2026’.

This appeared to be a confirmation that De Minaur and Boulter will be getting married later this year, with the location unconfirmed.

Both players have been asked many questions about their wedding, including at the Australian Open where De Minaur revealed that he was leaving some of the responsibilities for Boulter.

“Are you doubting me, Jim?” De Minaur told Jim Courier on court after beating Frances Tiafoe. “No, this is a 50-50 relationship! I’ve been involved so far with some of the decisions… When it comes to the details of napkins and flowers, that’s not my forte, so I’ll leave that to Katie.”

It remains to be seen as to when the exact date of their wedding will be, as they attempt to fit it around their busy schedules on tour.
