Stability in team selection has been a feature of the Carrick era and the lack of games has made picking the same XI simple enough. United have two games in four days this week and maybe that could change the thinking.

It doesn't sound like Martinez, De Ligt or Mount will be back, so changes will be kept to a minimum. The only player I would bring in is Sesko, who, after three goals off the bench for Carrick, has to be rewarded with a start.

Amad would be the player to make way for me. He has gone off the boil recently and isn't delivering enough goals or assists to stay in the team when someone like Sesko is delivering. He has to drop out and try and offer an impact from the bench.

Carrick spoke about his relationship with Sesko during his press conference on Friday. "It’s really not a drama," he said about the ongoing selection debate. Despite being named on the bench for all of Carrick's games in charge, Sesko has got on with his job with no fuss. He must start this weekend.

Sesko has six goals in seven matches and starting Amad, who has not recorded a goal or an assist since his return from AFCON, would make no sense.

The remainder of the team should stay the same. And in an ideal world, Amad is motivated by losing his starting place and contributes from the bench in the second half of the match.
