Carlos Alcaraz revealed how he has been taking inspiration from another Spanish sporting sensation: mixed martial artist (MMA) Ilia Topuria.The Olympic tennis silver medallist, who's chasing a fifth major title at the upcoming Australian Open 2025, opened up about his admiration for Topuria, who has won all 16 of his fights, including six knockouts, in a distinguished career so far.Alcaraz said in a press conference ahead of the Australian Open: “We always have moments of doubt and difficulties, but [Ilia] Topuria’s confidence in every fight inspired me to not have doubts and to know who I am and what I have. He has helped me dust myself off at times.”The pair met at the Madrid Open in April 2024, where Alcaraz switched the clay court for the octagon for a special masterclass in MMA from the UFC featherweight champion.Alcaraz begins his 2025 season at the Australian Open, where he aims to become the youngest player to complete the Career Grand Slam by the age of 21.
