India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on Monday posted a heartfelt message on his social media handles after the disappointing tour of Australia, a day after India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a 1-3 margin. He termed his first tour Down Under a learning experience and promised to come back stronger as India lost ownership of the trophy after a decade.

Jaiswal was one of India's standout performers, amassing 391 runs at an average of 43.44, the second-highest in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His contributions included a brilliant 161 in the Perth Test, which India won by a whopping 295 runs.

Jaiswal scored two half-centuries as well, but India couldn't retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 10 years, after losing the fifth and final Test by six wickets in Sydney on Sunday, January 5.

"Learnt a lot in Australia… Unfortunately the result wasn’t what we had hoped for but we’ll be back stronger.

Your support means everything," Jaiswal posted on Instagram.

Jaiswal's counterpart, Australia opener Usman Khawaja commented, "Love your work brother." Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan commented, "You are a superstar .. love watching you play."

The loss dashed India's hopes of bagging a spot in the World Test Championship final as well, with Australia now all set to face South Africa.

On the final day, the brilliant Scott Boland (6/45) and the ever-reliable skipper Pat Cummins (3/44) polished off the Indian tail for a paltry 157 in just 40 overs. If one takes out Rishabh Pant's fiesty 61 and Jaiswal's 22, the other nine players contributed a mere 74 runs.

Jaiswal (391 runs) was the top-scorer despite three ducks followed by rookie Nitish Kumar Reddy (298 runs), KL Rahul (276 runs) and Pant (255 runs).

The sole silver lining of the series is Jaiswal taking over the mantle as the next batting superstar and the raw talent exhibited by Reddy.
