Michael Carrick has had a flying start since returning to Manchester United, with the first three results lifting the mood in the dressing room. Diogo Dalot is the latest player to sing the praises of the newly appointed head coach.

Manchester United have won every game since Michael Carrick was appointed head coach in January. The opposition hasn’t been easy either, with three of the wins coming against teams positioned in the top half of the table.

The season objective of securing Champions League qualification already seems more achievable, but Carrick must ensure that the United players carry their form in the upcoming matches. The next test in the Premier League is against Tottenham on Saturday.

How many wins in a row will Michael Carrick make it now?

Three wins from three… it's a perfect start!

If United clinch a Champions League spot, Carrick will make a case to remain head coach beyond this season.

There’s a lot of football to play until we reach that point, but it is clear that Carrick is having a positive impact on the players, who were struggling to get results before the ex-midfielder returned to the Old Trafford dugout.

Diogo Dalot impressed by Michael Carrick’s backroom staff

Carrick’s coaching staff at United consists of Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion and Craig Mawson.

The results of late tell us that these coaches, brought in by Carrick, are rubbing off the right way on the players.

Evans, Binnion and Mawson were already known for their time at the club – in different capacities – while the other two were initially seen as outsiders.

Holland arrived at United with plenty of experience as a number two to coaches like Gareth Southgate, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Meanwhile, Woodgate was part of Carrick’s coaching staff at Middlesbrough.

United right-back Diogo Dalot has played in every game under Carrick thus far.

Dalot features as a special guest on the latest episode of the Inside Carrington podcast and reveals how impressed he has been by some of the new coaches.

The 26-year-old namechecked Holland and Woodgate for coming to the club with the ‘right approach’.

“Really, really impressed with them,” Dalot said.

“I think the experience that they brought. And they came with the right approach.

“I mean, Steve was in this position a lot of times during his coaching career. So he knew what to say. He knew the right energy to pass to the players.

“So I think the club and Michael did really well to bring them in.”

What are the biggest POSITIVES about Diogo Dalot’s game?

With the mood improving at Old Trafford, the only way to keep it that way is by winning football matches.

Carrick and his coaching staff will now prepare the players to take on Spurs later this week.

Dalot also spoke about Carrick’s influence on the team.

It is not the first time Dalot has experienced a change in management at United, but he is enjoying the process under Carrick.

“It’s been good,” says Dalot, to club legend Denis Irwin. “I mean, it’s always tough, and I’ve been through a couple of these scenarios before, so it’s always tough because, when changing manager, there is always a little bit of uncertainty around.

“We had obviously two really tough games that can change momentum, that can change seasons. And we did really well. So now the bigger challenge is to go even further, to be even better.”
