Nitish Kumar Reddy's series over; Rinku Singh to miss two T20Is

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against England while flamboyant middle-order batter Rinku Singh will be missing at least two games including Saturday’s 2nd T20I, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a medical update on both players.

In the medical update, BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia said that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had sustained a side strain injury in the practice session on 24th January in Chennai, where India are facing England in the second T20I. Rinku Singh, meanwhile, experienced a low back spasm while fielding in the first match and has been ruled out of the second and third matches.

The Indian Express had reported that all-rounder Shivam Dube had been added to India’s T20I squad for the five-match T20I series against England by the senior selection committee. Dube is expected to join the Indian team in Rajkot. Ramandeep Singh was added to the squad.

Dube has been called up as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy. The BCCI said that Nitish Kumar Reddy will head to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further management.

It added that Rinku Singh is “progressing well” and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He is ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T20I series.
