CELTIC haven’t been entirely convincing but they DO have the lead at Rugby Park against Junior grandees Auchinleck Talbot.

Forget Darvel 1 Aberdeen 0. Forget Berwick Rangers 1 Rangers 0. Even Macclesfield 2 Crystal Palace 1.

If Talbot were able to beat Celtic in Kilmarnock this evening, it would go down as the greatest EVER shock in cup history.

The West of Scotland Football League side were drawn against the Scottish Cup’s all-time record holders for the fourth round of the competition.

They were desperate to host the fixture at their traditional Beechwood Park ground but were told by Police Scotland that they wouldn’t be granted a licence.

And as a result the game has been moved to Rugby Park, home of Kilmarnock.

With Celtic sitting second in the Scottish Premiership and Talbot second in the West of Scotland’s Premier Division, the two clubs are separated by SIX tiers and a total of 59 places in the pyramid.
